Smart Phone Call

Brief telephone consult

As our first contact for services I offer a complementary 15-minute phone consultation. This is an opportunity for us to connect about the issues that bring you into care, and to determine whether working together is the best fit for your needs. I can answer any questions that you may have about coming into care and set up your first appointment.

Adult Intake and Return Appointments

Intake: During this appointment I will review your complete intake form with you to ensure that I have an appropriate understanding of some of your history, what brings you into care, and your goals for our work together. I will answer any questions that you have to the best of my ability. We will also use this appointment to create some initial goals for care and to set up our mutual expectations for treatment.

Return: During return appointments we will work together on your goals and I will support you through the process. We will regularly check in about the progress of care and make adjustments as needed to ensure that we are working effectively together.

I am in network with MHN, the behavioral health subsidiary of Health Net, Inc. Please be ready to provide your insurance card information when you contact me for a consult call.

I am an "out of network provider" for most insurance networks but will provide you a Superbill, which you may use to request reimbursement. The coverage you receive is entirely dependent upon the plan that you have. I recommend that you contact your insurance company directly to determine your specific coverage. Some questions that may be helpful in this conversation include:

  1. Do I have mental health insurance benefits that cover psychotherapy?

  2. Does my policy cover an out of network Licensed Psychologist? If so, what percentage is covered or what is the coverage amount per therapy session?

  3. What is my deductible and has it been met?

  4. Are my medical and mental health/behavioral health deductibles separate?

  5. How many sessions per year does my health insurance cover?

  6. Does the diagnosis matter? Are some diagnoses covered and others not?

  7. What paperwork or forms do I need to submit for sessions to be covered?

  8. Is approval required from my primary care physician?

If you’ve never used out of network benefits and would like help submitting your forms, there is an app that can help. For more information, check out Better at

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost.

Under the law, health care providers need to give clients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.

You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

No, I do not offer a sliding scale at this time.

Yes, I am able to work with any client who is located in California or Washington state.  According to the licensing laws, you do have to be in the state at the time of your session.

Prior to your first appointment, we will connect by video or phone where we can get to know each other better. After your phone consultation, you’ll be sent paperwork electronically so you don’t have to waste time signing forms during your session. We’ll complete an intake where we discuss your history, what you would like to achieve in therapy, and what the process will look like.
